Our History
Our Lady of Fatima parish grew from Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Highlandtown.
It began in a small store on Drew Street in 1951, then moved to a corner
store on Drew Street. We moved to our present location in 1953.
The School and Church were of equal importance and the church was held in the school gym with a view to eventually building a separate church building. The building of the separate church never became a reality and the present church location was redesigned in 1987 and rededicated on February 28, 1988.
The parish has been served by the Redemptorist Fathers and Brothers and
the School Sisters of Notre Dame from the beginning. Since the early 1990s
a Mission Helper of the Sacred Heart has served as pastoral associate.
The stained glass windows are from the Church of St. James on Eager Street. After St. James closed, the windows were put in storage and were purchased by Our Lady of Fatima. They were made in Europe.
If you are not just passing through but are thinking of joining us, we
would like you to know a little more about us. You are welcome to volunteer
or join the groups. Call the rectory at (410) 633-9393 for further information.
